Earth Day 2019

Coming April 22, 2019. Today’s the day – Earth Day! This year’s theme is: Protect Our Species. This continually growing movement involves more than 1 billion people in 192 countries, bonding together to participate in political and civic demonstrations to bring to the forefront the startling fact that as a result of our activities (climate change, deforestation, habitat loss, trafficking and poaching, unsustainable agriculture, pollution, and pesticides), we are now losing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the normal rate, with multiple extinctions daily. The 2019 goals are fourfold: (1) Educate and raise awareness about the accelerating rate of extinction of millions of species and the causes and consequences of this phenomenon; (2) Achieve major policy victories that protect broad groups of species as well as individual species and their habitats; (3) Build and activate a global movement that embraces nature and its values; and (4) Encourage individual actions such as adopting plant based diet and stopping pesticide and herbicide use. We implore you to do your part to make ever day Earth Day and help Protect Our Species.
