Coming October 20, 2018. Celebrate the moon! International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) is a worldwide event dedicated to learning about lunar science and space exploration. Held annually since 2010, it is observed in September or October when the moon is at first quarter, the moon phase when we can see exactly half of the moon’s surface illuminated, and it is visible during the afternoon and the early part of the night. InOMN is led by scientists, astronomers, teachers, policy makers and science and astronomy organizations around the world and is sponsored by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, NASA’s Solar System Exploration Research Virtual Institute (SSERVI), and the Lunar and Planetary Institute. There are hundreds of events around the world so check the link above to find one near you. Look up and join fellow stargazers for International Observe the Moon Night!
