Coming May 29, 2018. The world’s highest marathon. It’s the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon! Held every year on May 29th, it commemorates the first successful 1953 Everest expedition by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. Starting at Everest Base Camp with an altitude of 5,356 m at the Khumbu Icefall, runners travel through glaciers, monasteries, monuments, and suspension bridges and finish at Namche Bazaar at an altitude of 3,440 m. Given the difficulty of the terrain combined with the altitude, runners must show proof of good health with a mandatory Health Certificate. Choose from distances of Extreme Ultra (60K), Full Marathon (42K), and Half Marathon (21K). The Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon is the ultimate running challenge!
