Coming September 12, 2014. Only 2.5 miles…but with a 1K ascent in a distance of 5K! Yes, that’s the Lone Peak Vertical Kilometer, one of the races in The Rut Mountain Runs. Held at Big Sky Resort in Montana, this incredibly challenging race will have you starting at base camp with an elevation of 7,886 ft, and then it’s practically straight up the mountain to the summit of Lone Peak at 11,166 ft. You’ll be relieved to know that it’s a one-way run, so you get to take the tram back down and enjoy the beautiful vistas. Phew! Uphill running to the extreme!
