Coming June 3, 2022. Happy World Bicycle Day! Four years ago, in recognition of the two wheeled wonder, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 3rd to be World Bicycle Day. German Baron Karl von Drais is widely recognized as the inventor of the precursor to the modern bicycle during early 19th century. He patented his design in 1818, and it became the first commercially successful two-wheeled, steerable, human-propelled machine, commonly called a velocipede, and nicknamed hobby-horse or dandy horse. Since then, there are been many modifications and improvements. Not only is this two wheeled wonder an affordable, clean, environmentally sustainable way to get around, but it is such a healthy and fun activity. Pedal away the day and celebrate World Bicycle Day!
