Women’s Whitewater Kayaking Weekend

Coming June 14, and September 6, 2019. Time to go boating! Join Tumalo Creek Kayak and Canoe for their Women’s Whitewater Kayaking Weekend, aimed at introducing women to this popular sport in Central Oregon. Starting on Friday evening, you’ll learn about the equipment, the basic paddle strokes, and essential safety techniques. Saturday brings you to the gentle rapids of the Deschutes River to work on boat control, critical paddle skills, “reading” moving water, and how to identify and safely negotiate river features like rocks, wood and rapids. By Sunday, you’ll be comfortable running a Class II+ section on the McKenzie River! Along with instruction and transportation, all equipment is provided including kayak, paddle, spray skirt, pfd, and helmet. Launch into whitewater kayaking in a supportive, all-female environment with the Women’s Whitewater Kayaking Weekend!
