Virgin Money London Marathon

Coming April 22, 2018. For a “historical jog around London”, take part in the Virgin Money London Marathon! This very popular event is quite the spectacle with around 50,000 runners, and last year, an impressive £59.4m was raised for charity, setting a new world record for fundraising in a single day. The mostly flat course begins at 3 different starting points in Greenwich, converging just before mile 3 and travels into London, crossing the River Thames on Tower Bridge, passing many famous landmarks including the Tower of London, Big Ben, the London Eye, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and finally finishing in front of Buckingham Palace. Entry is by ballot only and is currently closed for this year’s race, so plan ahead for next year’s race as registration opens about a month after the previous year’s race and is only open for 5 days.
