Coming August 25, 2017. Distance: 199 miles. Time limit: 32.5 hours. Known as the Mother of All Relays, the Hood to Coast Relay was established in 1982 and is a super popular event, filling its 1,050 team limit on opening day for the past 19 years. Teams of 8 to 12 runners start at the Timberline Lodge (yes, location from the movie, The Shining) at an elevation of 6,000 feet on Mt Hood and race 36 legs to the finish line in Seaside, at the Oregon Coast. Legs vary in length (3.48 to 7.72 miles) and difficulty (easy flats to very hard hills), and each runner must complete at least 3 legs. A massive, post-race beach party celebrates this amazing accomplishment with live music, food, and awards.
