Coming July 10, 2015. Yikes…not for the faint of heart with 100 miles and a total elevation gain of about 33,000 feet! It’s the Hardrock 100 Mile Endurance Run. Held in southwestern Colorado, this loop run starts and ends in Silverton traveling through ghost towns, 13 major passes, and has the potential for snow with the highest point on the course being at over 14K feet. With extreme challenges in altitude, steepness, and remoteness, it’s no wonder that the cut-off time for finishing the race is 48 hours with the average completion time being a little more than 41 hours (the fastest woman, Diana Finkel, set the record at 27:18). An ultra, ultramarathon for the endurance runner!
