Intro To Ski Mountaineering by Backcountry Babes

Coming April 25, 2015. For the adventurous backcountry skier. The ladies at Backcountry Babes have put together an Intro to Ski Mountaineering to provide you with better avalanche safety knowledge and the skills to ski more adventurous lines. Over the course of a weekend, you’ll learn the basics of snow condition analysis, safe route-finding, how/when to use boot and ski crampons, how to use an ice ax and self-arrest a fall, and basic mountaineering skills. Held in Breckenridge, Colorado, you should be a proficient skier on black diamond terrain and in variable conditions with some avalanche safety training, good fitness level, and the ability to exercise comfortably at 8,000+ ft.  Challenge yourself in an encouraging, all-women’s environment.
