The Grand Traverse

Coming March 27, 2014. An extreme endurance event that begins under cover of darkness. The Grand Traverse is a 40-mile backcountry race that takes skiers from Crested Butte over two mountain passes to the base of Aspen Mountain. Setting out around midnight, teams of two trek through the remote Colorado wilderness, climbing more than 7,800 vertical feet in freezing temperatures. The route varies each year, depending on snow conditions, weather, or other safety concerns and is generally unmarked with racers required to check in at certain points by a specific cut-off time. A true test of physical and mental endurance.
