Red Bull 400

Various dates and location in 2016. Four hundred meters. No big deal, right? Think again. When it’s at an altitude of nearly 200m and straight uphill, it’s a BIG deal! The Red Bull 400 is known as the steepest 400m race in the world. Held at various ski jumps throughout Europe and North America, this short but deadly race is a real challenge. Some venues have an average gradient of about 45% and the terrain ranges from slippery grass to even more slippery concrete to wood steps or rope ladders placed over ascent of almost 40 degrees. Add to that altitudes of close to 7,000 feet, and you’ve got a recipe for a challenge. Choose to compete solo or as a relay team. This is an extreme race!
