It’s like stepping onto the set of Jurassic Park! The Milford Track in the¬†Fiordland National Park in the southwest of the South Island,¬†the larger of the two major islands of New Zealand, is a very popular walk, with 14,000 people visiting each year. Classified as a Great Walk, this one way hiking trail covers a distance of 53.5 km through dense rain forests, impressive granite mountain passes, and epic views. The track is well marked and signposted and usually takes about 4 days to complete. Only 40 hikers per day are allowed from late October to late April, and the 3 sleeping huts along the way fill up quickly since camping is not permitted. For stunning natural beauty, check out the Milford Track!
