It’s like stepping onto the set of Jurassic Park! The Milford Track in the Fiordland National Park in the southwest of the South Island, the larger of the two major islands of New Zealand, is a very popular walk, with 14,000 people visiting each year. Classified as a Great Walk, this one way hiking trail covers a distance of 53.5 km through dense rain forests, impressive granite mountain passes, and epic views. The track is well marked and signposted and usually takes about 4 days to complete. Only 40 hikers per day are allowed from late October to late April, and the 3 sleeping huts along the way fill up quickly since camping is not permitted. For stunning natural beauty, check out the Milford Track!
