Ski to Sea Race

Coming May 26, 2019. America’s original team relay race. It’s the Ski to Sea Race, a multi-sport, team relay race held in northwestern Washington that starts on the slopes of Mount Baker and ends in the cold waters of Bellingham Bay. Teams of 3 to 8 people compete in this 92-mile long event that consists of cross-country skiing (about 4 miles), downhill skiing or snowboarding (about 2.5 miles), running (8 miles with a 2,200 foot drop in elevation), road biking (about 41 miles), two-person canoeing (about 18.5 miles), cyclocross biking (about 13 miles), and sea kayaking (about 5 miles). Teams register in one of seven divisions (Corporate, Whatcom County, Car-free, High School, Masters, Veterans, and Family), and team members can participate in a maximum of 3 different events. After the race, stick around for the Historic Fairhaven Festival with live music and entertainment, a beer and wine garden, food booths, arts and crafts vendors, and activities for the kiddos.
