Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! The Wild Animal Sanctuary is a 789 acre animal rescue and educational facility in Keenesburg, Colorado, just north of Denver. More than 500 exotic animals including lions, leopards, coati mundi, tigers, wolves, servals and bears have been rescued from horrific captive situations. An elevated, 1.5-mile walkway, which happens to hold the Guinness World Records award for the Longest Footbridge, allows visitors to see these amazing creatures. At 30 feet above the ground, you’ll have a bird’s eye view of the animals in their large species-specific habitats without causing the animals stress. A second, much larger (almost 10,00 acres) location in southern Colorado, the Wild Animal Refuge, is not currently open to the public but provides much needed space with natural habitats comprised of hills, canyons, springs, and caves for animals to rehabilitate and roam freely. Go on safari right here in the United States at the Wild Animal Sanctuary!
