An all around magical experience! The Australian outback is awash with color; add to that, viewing of the imposing and impressive Uluru and Kata Tjuta atop friendly camels, and finish with a unique, glowing, outdoor art installation, and “magical” is most definitely an understatement! The Field of Light Star Pass by Camel from our friends at Voyages is a tour that will surpass your expectations. It starts with a trip to the Uluru Camel Farm where you are introduced to these gentle creatures before heading on a leisurely 45 minute jaunt through the red sand dunes with Uluru and Kata Tjuta in the distance. Along the way, a seasoned guide shares stories and information about the area and these kind animals. When you arrive at the viewing area, you are served drinks and “outback canapés”, a variety of appetizers with kangaroo, crocodile, seafood, and vegetables. As the sun sets, you are treated to the awe-inspiring, stunning color changes of the Rock and the illumination of the more than 50,000 hand-crafted, light stems that make up Bruce Munro’s Field of Light, also known as Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakutjaku or ‘looking at lots of beautiful lights’ in local Pitjantjatjara. This solar powered exhibition covers over 49,000 square meters, equivalent to almost 7 football fields. A walk through the pathways represents, in the artist’s words, “traversal through time: my past, our present, Uluru’s timeless future”. The Field of Light Star Pass by Camel is a truly unforgettable and enchanting tour!
