Through November 5, 2017. Camping just outside New York City? Yes, escape the hustle and bustle of the city with just a 90 minute subway ride to Camp Rockaway. For a limited time only, this “popup campground” is located at Fort Tilden, a former U.S. Army Coast Artillery Post. No camping equipment? No worries, because you can choose to go with their fully furnished safari tents complete with queen size bed, linens, lights, and even a cell phone charging station. Or choose their Herder Tents which have cots, and if you have all your gear, go with their traditional campsites. The Rockaways offers lots to satisfy your outdoor needs: sunrise/sunset beach walks, biking, surfing, birding and nature watching, fishing, hiking, and s’mores by the fire pit.
