Our friends at Mystery Ranch have just released the new generation Women’s Coulee 50, a backpack that gets you ready for your next mountain mission with a “go big or go home” mindset. Over the years, we have been fortunate to test many bags and totes from the folks at Mystery Ranch, and it’s no surprise that they are always a big hit with us. The Coulee 50 is no exception and impresses us with loads of well-thought-out features. Let’s start out with the basics: it weighs 4 pounds and has a capacity of 50 liters, enough space to hold all your sleeping, cooking, and camping gear needed for trips up to 5 or 6 days. And because a proper fitting backpack is critical in your comfort on those long hikes, the Coulee comes in a full range of sizes from extra small to large. Plus, you can easily adjust the torso length of the pack using the handy tool hidden in the yoke back to break the Velcro connection and slide the harness up or down. Simply replace the tool and then press the yoke to re-engage the connection. Cushioned lumbar support, a removable pocketed waist belt, and an adjustable chest strap add to the comfort level of this pack. Their signature 3-zip design permits complete expandability and access to the large main cavity, which has a water bladder pocket and dual openings for the water bladder hose. Two top zippered lid compartments hold smaller items you need readily available and 2 large front pockets and 2 stretch woven side pockets are convenient to hold water bottles, rain jackets, hiking poles, and more.
