Besides the yumminess of the SoLo Energy and Nutrition bars, what sets these bars apart from others is the fact that they trigger a lower glycemic response, which translates into more steady energy and less blood sugar spikes and crashes. You may recall that glycemic index (GI) is a relative ranking of the carbohydrate in foods according to how it affects blood glucose levels; the lower the rating, the less effect there is on your blood glucose level. These bars have a GI of 23 to 35; very low considering a tablespoon of sugar has a GI of 64. Soft and slightly chewy, they are gluten free and contain 190-200 calories, 10-13 grams of protein and 3-4 grams of fiber. They come in 10 flavors, and we don’t have a favorite because they are all delicious, though some of the team was particularly taken with the Dark Chocolate Mandarin (can’t go wrong with a chocolate and orange combo!).
