A long distance route worthy of its namesake. The John Muir Way travels 134 miles from Dunbar (his birthplace) along the Scottish coast to the waterfront town of Helensburgh. By foot, expect about a 7-10 day journey and by bike, expect a 3-5 day trek over easy to moderate terrain. Savor the Scottish countryside with vast moors, green hills, ragged cliffs, historic sites, castles, and quaint villages. Some areas are accessible on horseback. A fitting tribute to the co-founder of the Sierra Club and the “patron saint of the American wilderness”.
