Coming October 18-21, 2012. Orienteering used to be just a fun day in the woods, but now it’s become a competitive sport. Participants find their way to checkpoints across what can be unfamiliar terrain with the aid of a map and compass as fast as possible. And if you want to take it to the next level, check out this year’s North American Orienteering Championships (NAOC2012) in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, located in the Pocono Mountain region in northeastern Pennsylvania. There are 3 levels of race, middle, long and sprint, and you can expect to be racing against some of the best in the world.
