Start training now for one of the most popular long distance walks in Europe. The Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) is usually traveled during the summer season from July through September. This beautiful 103-mile (170km) trail circles Mont Blanc Massif, Europe’s highest mountain, and passes through 3 countries (France, Switzerland, and Italy) with 6.2 miles (10km) of ascents and descents. You can choose to travel clockwise or counterclockwise (most common) and start at any point along the trail. You’ll find accommodations along the route from small, privately-run refuges to dormitory-style auberges to small quaint hotels, with most offering meals as well. Generally, people walk the trail in 7-10 days, but the fastest known time is 20 hours and 5 minutes in 2003 for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc marathon. Get your TrailblazerGirl hiking boot ready!
