As the International Dark-Sky Associationʼs newest Dark Sky Park, Chaco Culture National Historical Park is definitely worth a visit. The park is also one of only twenty World Heritage sites in the U.S and includes 4,000 prehistoric archeological sites. A 9-mile paved loop road starts at the Visitor Center and leads you to five major Chacoan sites. There are also four backcountry hiking trails to get to more remote sites and features. Be sure to check the Visitor Center to take advantage of any special programs or evening events highlighting the spectacular dark night sky.
