Ready for some sun? We sure are, and Kōkua Sun Care Hawaiian Natural Zinc Sunscreen SPF50 is ready to help protect our skin! The packaging has a retro feel to it, but it is anything but retro. After many years of research, the ideal formulation was developed using non-nano, natural zinc oxide and 23 antioxidant ingredients, of which 7 are Hawaiian-grown. As a Hawaii-based business, the company wanted to provide kōkua (Hawaiian for help) to its beautiful home by using locally sourced ingredients and supporting ocean-loving non-profit organizations, as well as protect the vital reefs that surround the islands. All ingredients are reef safe and free of synthetic fragrances, oxybenzone, paraben, and phthalate. It looks like a very white, thick lotion, but it rubs in clear (no ghost white faces here!) without any greasiness or problems stinging our eyes. Water resistant up to 80 minutes, it has a very mild, pleasing vanilla/coconut scent.
