A moveable, floating island! No, it’s not a prop for some science fiction movie, it’s Copenhagen CPH-Ø1, a hand made wooden platform with a living linden tree floating in Copenhagen’s inner harbor. This 65 square foot island is the first of several that will make up a “Parkipelago” – a new concept in public spaces in the Danish capital. The idea is that there will be a collection of these islands serving as swimming platforms and possibly a sauna, garden, mussel farm, fishing platforms, and a sail-in café. They will be open to the public and free for all to use. The CPH-Ø1 is a fun and whimsical solution to augment the amount of public space available in the city!
