Biossance Squalane + Mineral SPF 45

Have you heard of squalane? Our friends at Biossance certainly have, and they have incorporated this magic elixir in the Squalane + Mineral SPF 45 sunscreen. Here’s the scoop: squalane is the stabilized form of squalene (note the “e” instead of the “a”) which is an oil naturally found in your skin that keeps it hydrated and protected, but as we age, the amount of squalene produced and retained decreases. Enter the squalane from Biossance. This is derived purely from renewable sugarcane – yes, 100% plant-based. And they have smartly included it in their sunscreen to give you a clean, lightweight moisturizer that provides protection from UVA/UVB infrared rays with an SPF of 45. Now this is a mineral sunscreen so those harmful rays are deflected away from your skin. Don’t be worried by the initial, white creaminess of the lotion; once you gently rub it in, it’s completely absorbed without any ghost-like residue (just a hint of sparkle is left). They recommend briskly rubbing it between fingers until the product starts to turn transparent before applying to your face, but we didn’t find this extra step necessary.
