Especially in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a fair amount, the waterproof nature of the shell is appreciated as well as the removable hood and water resistant zippers on the 2 side pockets. The 2 zippered chest pockets are covered with a flap of fabric, so they are virtually waterproof as well. Though the coat doesn’t have pit zips, it is very breathable.
