Ready for a quick 120 day adventure along one of the longest hiking trails in the world? New Zealand’s Te Araroa Trail (Maori for “The Long Pathway”), is the Kiwi answer to the Appalachian Trail, spanning 1,980 miles. The trail opened in December of 2011 and guides hikers the length of the country along the coastline, through the forest, across farmland, over volcanoes and mountain passes, along river valleys, and on green pathways through seven cities. By the end, you’ll probably feel like you’ve completed the Lord of the Rings journey yourself.
