Coming October 11, 2014. In honor of our friends to the north, we’re featuring the Okanagan Marathon this Thanksgiving weekend! Yes, it’s Thanksgiving weekend for our Canadian TrailblazerGirls! Did you know that the very first Thanksgiving celebration in North America happened in Canada in 1578? It occurs every second Monday in October and celebrates the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Feasting happens just like in the US with turkey and all the fixing, so it seems only fitting that we should alert you to a marathon to help work up an appetite. If you’re not up to a full marathon, there’s also a 10km, a half marathon, and an untimed 5km fun walk/run. It’s a picturesque setting in Kelowna’s beautiful Okanagan Lake waterfront and includes a sports expo and family friendly events.
