The world’s largest skating rink! The Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, carries this distinction every winter. The Skateway travels through downtown Ottawa for 7.8 kilometres (4.8 mi) to Dows Lake and is open 24 hours a day. You’ll find kiosks with hot beverages and snacks as well as warming huts and sleigh tours on the skateway. Typically the season runs from January to late February, but this year it is still currently open. So lace up your skates and head to Ottawa, and be sure to check the ice conditions on their website!
