One of the world’s best and longest cycling trails. TrailblazerGirl cyclists will love Nga Haerenga – The New Zealand Cycle Trail (NZCT) with its 1,553-mile-long network of biking routes. Nga Haerenga translates to ‘the journeys’ in Māori and each of the 23 trails provides a window into the distinctive landscape, environment, culture and heritage of New Zealand. A great example of this is pictured above with the Roxburgh Gorge Trail which opened in October of 2013. This one-day trail travels past old mining settlements with stunning views of the bluffs of grey schist rock and the Clutha River. Providing a wide range of shorter outings, multi-day touring routes and hard-core mountain-biking experiences, the NZCT certainly makes New Zealand a cyclist’s dream destination.
